Trade — peer to peer
Post an offer to swap one token for another, or take all or part of someone else’s. The seller’s tokens are held by the contract in an account that belongs to that offer alone; a buyer pays the seller directly in one signed transaction.
How Trade works — a plain guide and common questions →
The fee: Smart Pacts keeps a fee from what each side of a trade receives — 1 % when the contract is first deployed. The governance keys can change that rate at any time (the contract’s governance keyset is set to need any two of Smart Pacts’ three keys), also after the contract is frozen, from 0 up to the cap written in the contract. An order on the book never pays more than the rate when it was placed. A rise never takes an order above the rate it was placed at. After a cut, a rise brings older orders back up, but only as far as the rate they were placed at. A cut below an order’s rate reaches it at once. Every order and every purchase states the fee its signer accepted: when you take an order you pay that order’s rate, as your quote shows it before you sign, and if the fee changed in between, the transaction is refused and you get a new quote — nobody pays more than they were shown. The rate in force is shown above the order book and in the order form, and is read again every 15 seconds.
Who controls it: the contract can be upgraded by Smart Pacts — by its governance keyset, which is set to need any two of three keys. An upgrade could change the rules and move what orders hold, so placing an order means trusting those keys. Buying from an order holds nothing of yours.

Place an order
A trade cannot be undone by anyone once it goes through.
A limit order first takes whatever already rests on the book at your price or better, and posts only the rest; that rest stays on the book until it is taken or you cancel it. A market order takes the best orders one after another. Either is one transaction on one chain. Any token that follows the standard token interface can be named in a custom pair; ones that cannot hold the locked account are refused by their own ledger when you place.
Depth — what is on the book, by price
Bids (teal) accumulate leftwards from the spread, asks (red) rightwards; the dotted line is the reference price. There is no trade history on this page: nothing here records past fills, so the chart shows the book itself.
Order book
Click a row to take it: its total and the maker's full address are shown before you sign. Price is in the quote token per one base token. Chain is where the order lives: you pay and receive on that chain, so have the coins there — or let this page move them for you when you take the order.
